It used to be common on the 4th of July when I was a child in grade school, for the Chicago newspapers to print a copy of the entire Declaration of Independence. It was kind of a reminder to Americans of what it was we were celebrating. Now, a good 50+ years later, I have not seen the Declaration of Independence printed in a newspaper on July 4th for years – only little snippets of it with political commentary. It’s a curious thing.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. – That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, – That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
Are you scratching your head yet? If you are in the health business you probably have wondered what happened to those “certain unalienable rights” that you might have been intent on exercising. Like the right to drink raw milk and buy it from whomever you choose. Or have a cow and sell milk – raw – to whomever you choose. The right to take an herb, give an herb, or sell your service as you please unimpeded and without government interference. Exercising your right as a Sovereign Citizen to do what you want, as long as it does not infringe upon the rights of others – obeying the golden rule, and doing no harm. What the heck happened to America where now there is a law and regulation for everything under the sun?
I have an answer for what happened to America. One word. Us. Yep, us. We happened to America. We the people have grown lazy, tired, and apathetic. We have transferred our responsibility to know the law, to know our constitutions, to know the foundation upon which our government rests, to others. We have allowed our nation to be run by politicians and lawyers who have taken us to the cleaners with laws and regulations that they have made up out of thin air.
We are a nation in trouble. Serious trouble.
You can infer from the Declaration of Independence that he who has an ability to act, has a duty to act.
I have heard from too many decent and honest health care practitioners about some government agency someplace in America that has completely stepped all over their unalienable rights to provide a product or service. Ignorant of their inborn political power as a Sovereign American Citizen, often depending on lawyers possessing equal ignorance, these health care practitioners too often bow down before their servants in government and acquiesce to their fraudulent demands. Of course when a gun is pointed at your head you do things you otherwise might not be inclined to do.
Do you think this is right?
If you live in this country, you need to learn who you are and where you are. You are in the greatest nation on earth. (Yes it has fallen far but compared to anywhere else, it is still the country that so many want to come to and live.) This country has a foundation that recognizes, in law, that the people are Sovereign. That the people hold the political power. That the government and its agents are the servants of the people. All of this means something. And it is very powerful to know. And it is our duty to know.
Three years ago I put out a note in this newsletter asking who would be interested in learning about law in relationship to exercising one’s rights – geared to the health business. I think 4 or 5 people responded. With such a low response, I did not pursue doing anything serious beyond the session we do in the microscope workshop. But this is work that must be done.
Collectively we need to fight, fight hard, and fight right. The servants are out of control and we must, for our sanity and our future, hold them to their delegated authority and not allow them one bit more than that which is enumerated in our constitutions. I used to think this could be done, properly, and in law. I’m not so sure anymore. But nevertheless we cannot give up.
If we do not do this, we risk grave peril of losing our republic and we’ll see a continual erosion of freedom by an elitist class bent on ruling by their will. Right now, most politicians yap about having a democracy.
The newspapers this morning are waving flags of words about “our democracy”. What idiocy. Make no mistake, we are still a republic. The question is, did the Declaration of Independence and the revolution it brought become a failed experiment that proves people cannot be trusted with self-government? Do we as a people need to be ruled by politician lawyers who make up continual laws that tell us what to do, when to do it, and how to do it – in just about every matter in our lives? I think not.
Today (or this weekend) take the time to pick up a copy of the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence, and actually read it. That is what this day is about. If you live in another country, pick up your countries foundational document that delegates authority to your “officials” and see what it says.
